Zane Morgan Stokes, 24, of Lenoir left this world far too soon on June 27, 2026, at his residence.

Zane was born on May 30, 2002, in Ashtabula, Ohio to Gary Hughes and Lenae Stokes. Zane's educational journey was marked by his graduation from West Caldwell High School, where he was a proud participant in the JROTC program for four years. His passion for learning and his dedication to his craft led him to complete the Welding Program at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCCTI). Zane was a skilled welder, whose talents and steadfast work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. Beyond his professional achievements, Zane was a proud Chippewa Native American, extraordinary artist, teaching himself the nuances of his craft with a natural ability that left everyone in awe. An avid Xbox player, Zane found joy and camaraderie in the virtual worlds he explored. His love for fashion was evident in his unique style, whether he donned a tuxedo or his favorite cowboy hat and jeans. Zane had a profound love for animals, with the notable exception of spiders, and he cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially during shooting outings with his brothers, Uncle John, and nephew Elijah. To sitting around a bonfire with his brothers and Bill. To swimming in the river or the ocean in Florida and California to the farming with Uncle Charles and William in Florida. His polite demeanor, ever-present smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Zane is proceeded in death by his grandmother; Dolores Shreiber, Grandfather; John Pugh Sr and Aunt Renae Graham.

Those left to cherish the memory of Zane include his mother; Lenae Stokes of the home, stepdad; William Perrine of Florida, Siblings; Logan A. Stokes of Tennessee, Lara E. Stokes of Kentucky, Zachariah Stokes of Lenoir and Luke Stokes of Lenoir. Aunt and Uncles; Mary Lou Rodgers of Cal, Eileen Shwartz of Arizona, Michael Pugh of Cal and John Pugh of Virginia. Also surviving are nephews Elijah Stokes and Aiden Toombs of Kentucky.
