William Franklin McLamb

William Franklin “Doug” McLamb, 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Amorem Hospice in Valdese, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Doug was born on July 22, 1938, in Bladen County, NC, to the late William Vance McLamb and Ellen Smith McLamb. He was a devoted follower of Christ and possessed a remarkable gift for working with his hands. For many years, he was a highly respected machine fixer in the textile industry, known for his ability to mend anything that came his way. There was nothing mechanical that he couldn’t figure out, repair, or create with his skilled hands, which was a testament to his talent and dedication.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, William Terry McLamb; his granddaughter, Brittany Stubbs; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Katie Byrd McLamb of the home; his children, Connie Herring of Charleston, SC and Victor Featherstone of Granite Falls; his step-son, Darrell Stubbs of Morganton; his step-daughter, Leisa Stubbs of Morganton; one sister, Annie Tidwell of Columbia, SC; his daughter-in-law, Karen Rowell of Vale; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service, with Rev. Scott Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Memorial Gardens in Connelly Springs.
