Vonda Carter Hefner

Mrs. Vonda Carter Hefner, 91, of Granite Falls, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson following a period of declining health.

Vonda was born October 16, 1934 in Caldwell County to the late William Moore Carter and Naomi Annas Carter. She dedicated more than 30 years of service, working for Granite Insurance. Outside her professional life, Vonda volunteered her time and heart to Amorem Hospice, formerly Caldwell Hospice, for twenty-six years. She was a faithful and active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hudson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Fox, Thad Carter, Billie Sue Cline, and Lois Hefner.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 69 and a half years, D.C. Hefner of the home; children, Angela Turnmire and husband Phil of Hudson, and Chris Hefner and wife Tammy of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Ross Turnmire (Katie), Meredith Hildebran (Jonny), Ben Turnmire (Ericka), Zachary Hefner (Lydia), and Lynee’ Hefner; four great grandchildren, Davis Turnmire, Sutton Turnmire, Tripp Turnmire, Harper Hildebran, Atlas Hildebran, Sawyer Hefner, and Elsie Hefner.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 1:30PM to 2:45PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

A funeral service will follow in the sanctuary at 3:00PM with the Rev. Glenn Walker officiating.

Concluding services will be held in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Zach Kennedy officiating.
