Verna Mae Brown

Verna Mae Brown 82, of Hudson passed away peacefully on Sunday March 15, 2026, at Brockford Inn Assisted living Facility in Granite Falls.

Verna was born on March 30, 1943, in Mingo West Virginia to the late Colombus White and Nanny Hall White. Verna faithfully attended Longview Christian Tabernacle, where she openly shared and lived out her deep love for the Lord. Her faith was an important part of her life and something she carried with her every day. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother who cherished her family with all her heart. Verna dedicated her life to caring for her home and family, always putting their needs before her own. As a homemaker, she found joy in making sure those she loved were cared for in every way she could. In her free time, Verna enjoyed shopping just about anywhere she could, but yard sales were her favorite place to spend the day. She loved the thrill of finding special treasures and the simple joy of being out and about.

In addition to her parents Verna is preceded in death by her Four Siblings: Iva Adkins, Haziel Moore, Donna Mills and Perry White.

Those left to cherish Verna’s memories include her loving husband of 56 years Roger Brown of Hudson; Sister Gloria Cline of Sawmills; three Children Trina Honeycutt and husband Melvin of Hickory; James Browning and wife Tonya of Lenoir and Clinton Browning of Lenoir; Cousin Billy Chapman (who was just like a brother to Verna) and wife Brenda of Columbus Ohio; Grandchildren Bethany Low, Clinton Browning, Seth Browning, Sarah Browning, Maci Honeycutt and Alyssa Honeycutt. Also surviving are two Great Grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 18, 2026, at 12:00PM to honor Verna’s life in the Chapel of Mackie funeral service with Pastor Sam Holden Officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00AM - 12:00PM at Mackie Funeral Service.

Internment will follow the service at Bethlehem Church of God in Hickory North Carolina.
