Susan Maria Turnmire

Susan Maria Turnmire, 54, of Granite Falls, departed this life to her heavenly home on Monday April 13, 2026 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Susan was born on January 17, 1972 in Catawba County, to Imogene Davis Turnmire and the late Fred A. Turnmire. Susan dedicated over 16 years to shaping young minds as a teacher with Caldwell County Public Schools at Granite Falls Middle School; and her latest employment was at Busy Bee Wee Daycare in Granite Falls. Her commitment to education was paralleled by her faith and membership at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hudson.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her mother Imogene “Babe” Turnmire of Granite Falls; her brothers, Phil Turnmire and wife Angie, Doug Turnmire and wife Ruth, and Mike Townsend and wife Tina; her sister-in-law, Karen Turnmire; and her best friend, Chris Bean; also surviving are her numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her brother, Donald D. Turnmire.

In keeping with Susan’s wishes, there will be a private service held by her family.
