Sharon Ritchie Lunsford

Mrs. Sharon Kay Ritchie Lunsford, 70, of Hickory Entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Carolina Caring Sherrills Ford Hospice House.

Sharon was born on September 13, 1956, in Catawba county to the late Robert Ritchie and Louise Lail Ritchie. Sharon was a smart, strong, and devoted woman who loved her family deeply. She had a wonderful personality and enjoyed the simple things that brought her happiness. She loved playing video games, especially Animal Crossing, shopping at Walmart and browsing the aisles, watching soap operas and true crime shows, and playing board and card games with her family. One of Sharon’s most treasured traditions was family card night. For more than 30 years, her family gathered each week to play cards, laugh, share stories, and enjoy one another’s company. They rarely missed a week, making it a special tradition filled with countless memories. Sharon will be remembered for her strength, intelligence, sense of humor, and the love and dedication she showed to her family. She brought her own special joy to the lives of those around her and will be deeply missed, but the memories she created with her loved ones will live on forever.

In addition to her mother and father Sharon is proceeded in death by her siblings; Debbie Lunsford and Stevie Lunsford.

Those left to cherish the memory of Sharon include her husband of 41 years; David Lunsford of the home, Son; Paul Lunsford and fiancée Lauren Brinkley of Hickory, stepchildren; Jeremy Lunsford of Valdese, Dana Lunsford of Valdese and Tony Lunsford of Arizona. Siblings; Bobby Ritchie of Hickory, Chuck Ritchie of Icard, Marty Capps of Rhodhiss, Brian Capps of Rhodhiss and Shannon Capps of Utah. Grandchildren; Nicholas Cosenza of Fayetteville, Kaiya Lunsford of Valdese, Aden Lunsford of Morganton, Amber Lunsford of Morganton and Anthony Lunsford of Morganton.

A memorial service to celebrate Sharons life will be held on Saturday September 26 at 2:00 PM inside the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Home. The family with receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
