Rev. Jerry Eugene Lingerfelt

Rev. Jerry Eugene Lingerfelt, 84, of Connelly Springs went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 3, 2025 at UNC Health Blue Ridge in Morganton following brief period of declining health.

Jerry was born June 13, 1941 in Burke County, NC to the late Zennie Lingerfelt and Eula Smith Lingerfelt. He devoted his life to serving the Lord as a Pastor for forty eight years, serving thirty eight of those years at Faith Baptist Church in Lenoir. Jerry worked as a mechanic all his life. In his free time, he could often be found coon hunting, cat fishing, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, James Lingerfelt, Joann Stephens, Lois Johnson, and Faye Zimmerman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty five years, Betty Yount Lingerfelt of the home; son, Rev. Derick Lingerfelt and wife Shannon of Connelly Springs; grandchildren, Tori Louanne Lingerfelt and Alexander Eugene Lingerfelt; and siblings, Margaret Bumgarner, Sue Wilson and husband Jack, and Harold Lingerfelt.

A funeral service will be held 3:00PM Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Derick Lingerfelt, Rev. Matthew Sparks, and Rev. Donald Zimmerman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Faith Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors presented by the NC National Guard.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, on Sunday from 2:00PM to 3:00PM at Faith Baptist Church.
