Phyllis Austin Dunn

Mrs. Phyllis Austin Dunn, 79, of Hudson went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 22, 2026, at Amorem Hospice House in Valdese.

Phyllis entered into this world on January 3, 1947, in Caldwell County to the late Clarence Cecil “Red” Austin and Ruby Pearlean Stamey Austin.

Family was at the heart of Phyllis's life. She loved spending time with her loved ones and treasured every opportunity to gather, share stories, laugh, and make memories. Phyllis was also a social and outgoing person who loved meeting people and enjoying good company. In addition to her mother and father. Phyllis enjoyed visiting the beach and the peace and beauty of the ocean. She loved to hunt for seashells and sand dollars. Phyllis also had a special love for snowmen and enjoyed collecting them, creating a collection that reflected her fun-loving personality and brought her happiness throughout the years. Phyllis loved to read and would visit the local library frequently.

Phyllis is proceeded in death by her brother; Randy Austin, Sister; Carolyn Philyaw and her infant brother John Austin.

Those left to cherish the memory of Phyllis include her loving husband of 59 years Charles “Tommy” Dunn of the home. Children; Russell Dunn and wife Melissa of Lenoir, Charles “Chuck” Dunn and fiancée Linda McNeal of Lenoir, Brother; John Austin of Hudson, Grandchildren; Jessica and husband Shane of Lenoir, Karlee and husband Sean of Cary, Stephine of Lenoir, Ashley of Lenoir, Chris and wife Chelsea of Lenoir, Kelby of Lenoir and Ryan of Lenoir. Also surviving are numerous Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and extended family.

A Funeral service for Mrs. Phyllis will be held on Friday September 25, 2026, at 2:30 inside the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service with Rev. Scott Philyaw officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, one hour prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.
