Peggy Adams Smith

Mrs. Peggy Adams Smith, 58, of Granite Falls, exited this life to her heavenly home on October 16, 2026, at Amorem Hospice House in Valdese.

Peggy was born into this world on August 2, 1968, in Caldwell County to the late Philmore Ted Adams and Josephine Absher Adams. Peggy had unwavering faith and it was a strong and important part of her life, and she was of the Baptist faith She had a deep love for genealogy and enjoyed learning about and preserving her family’s history. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart. She was known for her beautiful, contagious smile that could brighten any room and for the love she showed to everyone she met. Her kindness, warmth, and caring spirit touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her strong faith in the Lord, and the joy and love she shared with everyone around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her mother and father Peggy is preceded in death by her Maternal grandparents Dewey and Bertha Absher and her Paternal Grandparents Spain and Flora Adams.

Those left to cherish the memory of Peggy include her loving husband of 26 years Jim Smith of the home, Children; Rebecca Parsons of Texas, Katherine Barcenas and husband Matthew of Lenoir. Grandchildren; Wyatt, Alex, Noah, Addison and Raelyn. Siblings; Roger Absher of Hudson, Tim Adams and wife Debbie of Montana and Patsy Gray and husband C.L. of Hickory. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service to honor the life of Peggy Smith will be held on Saturday October 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM inside the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mackie Funeral Service.

Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.
