Paul David Lunsford

Mr. Paul David "Day-Day" Lunsford, 77, of Hickory, entered into eternal rest on Saturday September 26, 2026, at Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House.

David was born on March 11, 1949, in Burke County to the late Coy Lunsford and Sally Anderson Lunsford. David had a deep love for music and played guitar in a band for 30 years, creating many special memories through his music. His family was always there to support him and enjoyed watching him do what he loved. Outside of music, he enjoyed playing poker, watching Westerns, gambling, and spending quiet mornings having breakfast. He especially cherished sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee or a Pepsi. He was a faithful member of the Baptist faith, and his love for his family, music, and the simple moments of life will be remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother and father Paul is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon Lunsford, Sisters; Betty Terry and Peggy Chewning and brothers; Willie Joe Lunsford and Steve Lunsford.

Those left to cherish the memory of David include his children; Tony Lunsford of Arizona, Dana Lunsford of Valdese, Jeremy Lunsford of Valdese and Paul Lunsford Jr. of Hickory. His sisters; Wanda Setzer and Geraldine Abernethy. Grandchildren; Nicholas Cosenza of Fayetteville, Kaiya Lunsford of Valdese, Aden Lunsford of Valdese, Amber Lunsford of Morganton and Anthony Lunsford of Morganton.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 2 PM to 3 PM at Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.

A private internment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls.
