Mary Whisnant Turnmyre

Mary Whisnant Turnmyre, 96, of Crumpler, NC formerly of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 24, 2025 at Margate Health and Rehab Center, following a period of declining health.

Mary was born on May 24, 1929 in Caldwell County, to the late Offie Whisnant and Betty Wilkerson Whisnant. She was a homemaker, and will be deeply missed by her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph James Turnmyre; her son, Scott Turnmyre; and her siblings, Floyd, Helen and Virginia.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter-in-law, Lisa Turnmyre of Morganton; her granddaughters, Megan Turnmyre of Hickory and Lauren Soots and husband Alex of Hudson; and her brother-in-law, Dustin Turnmyre of Granite Falls.

A Private Graveside Service will be held by the family on Monday December 29, 2025 at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls.
