Marlene Good Lucas

Marlene Sue Good Lucas, 79, of Rhodhiss, departed this life to her heavenly home on Monday October 5, 2026 at Deer Park Health & Rehabilitation in Nebo following a brief illness.

Marlene was born on November 11, 1946 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Jake Good and Bessie Crowder Good. As a child she attended holiness services at Sinko, WV, a place that remained close to her heart throughout her life. She later dedicated many years of hard work at Pallatine Coal strip mines in West Virginia as a truck driver, where she worked for many years until her well deserved retirement. She was loved by all who knew her, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Arvin Lucas, Jr.; her granddaughter, Shawna Leigh Jones; and her great-granddaughter, Brielle Jean Jaime; her brothers, Harlon Good, Charles Good and Gordon Good; two sisters, Wanda Good Mitchell and Carol Good Patterson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tina Gay Lawson and husband Terry David Lawson of NC, Arvin Ray Lucas and wife Stephanie of W. Va., Lynette Sue Williams and Clint Eric Lucas both of NC; her sisters, Betty Slawter and Sheila Kennison both of WV; also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday October 9, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.

Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM Friday, in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service, with Preacher Garrett Metcalf officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Dennis.
