Mabel Irene Laney

Mrs. Mabel Irene Causby Laney, 85, of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Laney was born on August 19, 1941 in Caldwell County to the late Ralph and Viola Mae Causby.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William Laney; her brothers, Roy Causby, Gary Causby, Tony Wayne Causby, and Bob Causby; and sisters, Pat Causby and Rita Livingston.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jeffery Laney and wife Melody of Granite Falls; granddaughter, Amanda L. Horton and husband Benjamin of Longs, SC; great grandchildren, Camden Horton and Everett Horton; brothers, Ralph Causby and wife Pansy of Newton, Steve Causby and wife Betty of Granite Falls, Mark Causby and wife Patti of Granite Falls, Joe Causby and wife Sandy of Lincolnton; sisters, Donna Coffey of Granite Falls, Connie Allison and husband Donnie of Lenoir, and Joan Sanders of Rutherfordton.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 1:30PM to 3:00PM at Mountain Grove Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM in the Sanctuary of Mountain Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Gil Larew officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mountain Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and a special thank you to College Pines Nursing Home for the love and care they provided for Mabel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at Alzheimer's Association /northcarolina.
