Lloyd Albert “Butch” Hames

Lloyd Albert “Butch” Hames, Sr., 79, of Granite Falls, departed this life to his heavenly home on Sunday June 21, 2026 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory following a brief illness.

Butch was born on February 13, 1947 in Rowan County, NC to the late Coin Albert Hames and Sally Ruth Tutterow Hames. He dedicated many years of his life as a skilled frame builder in the furniture industry, where his hard work and dedication were evident in every piece he helped create. Butch was a beacon of kindness and service in his community. He was a devoted volunteer in many capacities, with a special place in his heart for the local food pantry, where his efforts made a tangible difference in the lives of many. Known for his ever present smile and warm demeanor, he truly never met a stranger, making everyone he encountered feel like a friend.

Butch was an active member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church, where his faith was the cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, a testament to a life well-lived, and a heart full of service to others and love for the Lord. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 55 years, Judy Carpenter Hames of the home; his children, Cindy Austin and husband Michael of Hudson, Larry Postell of Oak Hill, and Loyd Hames, Jr. of Oak Island, NC; his sister, Pat Cohee of Hudson; also surviving are seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.

A service to celebrate the life of Butch will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday June 26, 2026 at Mountain Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Marty Jacumin officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at Mountain Grove Baptist Church.
