Lester Norman Shronce

Mr. Lester “Norman” Shronce, 87, of Granite Falls passed away Saturday October 4, 2025 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson following a period of declining health.

Norman was born February 7, 1938 in Caldwell County to the late Lester Judston “L.J.” and Edna Setzer Shronce. Following graduation from Granite Falls High School he attended High Point University, graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University, and received his Masters Degree from Appalachian State University. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Norman had a long-standing career in county government serving as County Manager of Caldwell, Finance Director of Buncombe, Tax Supervisor of Burke; and retiring from Davidson County as County Manager. He was a long-time member of the Granite Falls Lions Club. In his spare time Norman enjoyed restoring his old Ford trucks, farming, and raising Black Angus cattle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Shronce Lowe; and brother Mack Richard Shronce.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jeanne Stoutt Shronce; daughter, Lecia Shronce; sons, Jeff Shronce and wife Melissa, and Neil Shronce and wife Michele; granddaughters, Kate Shronce Field and husband Ben, and Anna Shronce; grandsons, Caleb Shronce and wife Candace, Andy Shronce, and Camp Shronce; step-grandsons, Garrett Shore and wife Skylar, and Hunter Shore and wife Rachel; niece, Lynda Lowe Helms and husband Kevin; and nephews, Rick Lowe and wife Sarah, and Ronnie Lowe.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM at Clover Baptist Church.

A funeral service will immediately follow in the sanctuary with Rev. Brian Howell officiating.

Interment will be private with Rev. Kevin Childers officiating and military honors presented by the U.S. Airforce.
