Mr. Larry “Mtn. Man” Wayne Whtiley, age 67, of Lenoir passed away unexpectedly on Monday July 20, 2026, at UNC Health Blue Ridge Valdese.
Larry was born on February 26, 1959, in McNairy, Tennessee to Virginia Faye Brewer Whitley and the late JL Whitley. Larry was an outstanding man who would gladly give to anyone, even a stranger. He loved building model cars, spending time with his family, and cheering on his grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren at their ball games, always making cherished memories with those he loved. He enjoyed visiting the flea market and spending time at the river. Although he couldn't swim a fact he often laughed about, he still made the most of every trip. He had a special love for hats and treasured his Ford F-100. Above all, he loved Jesus Christ. In the later years of his life, he carried a cross with him as a reminder of his faith and made the Lord the center of his life.
In addition to his father, Larry is proceeded in death by his brothers; Donald Lee Whitley, Danny Ray Whitley and sister; Teresa Darlene Walker.
