Jonathan Dean Yager

Jonathan "Jon" was born in Banner Elk, NC on October 15, 1976. He lived in his beloved Grace Chapel/Dudley Shoals community of Granite Falls, NC his entire life. Jon spent his professional life as a long distance truck driver. Jon played football at South Caldwell High School winning 4A championships. He loved fishing, NASCAR, football, and a wide variety of mechanical and carpentry projects.

Jon passed unexpectedly May 6, 2026 at his residence after battling paralysis and a stroke in early December of 2025.

Jon was preceded in death by his mother Janice Yager May 19th, 2025. The surviving family is his father James Yager, his older brother Kenneth Yager, his nephew Jonah Yager, his cousins Shawn Hughes, Shane Hughes, and Vandy Laxton. Jon considered many friends as family too. He will be missed by all. May he rest in peace.
