James William Shoupe Jr.

James William Shoupe, Jr., 79, departed this life to his heavenly home on Wednesday March 25, 2026 at Carolina Rehab of Burke following a period of declining health.

James was born on December 20, 1946 in Burke County, to the late James William Shoupe, Sr. and Raney Elizabeth Stewart Shoupe. He worked as a fixer for many years at Drexel Knitting and was a member of Faith Community Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Jamie Shoupe and wife Melissa of Rutherford College and Mike Shoupe and wife Meg of Valdese; his grandchildren, Leyton Shoupe and Logan Shoupe; his great-grandchildren, Hayley Shoupe and Liam Shoupe; his sister, Louise Murphy and husband Jim of Lenoir; his life-long partner, Camille Hall of Drexel; the mother of his children, Betty Shoupe of Morganton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday March 28, 2026 from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 P.M. Saturday in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, with Rev. Tamika Garrison officiating. Interment will follow the service at Drexel Memorial Park.
