Hunter Lee Hicks

Hunter Lee Hicks, 26, of Lenoir, NC, went home to be with his lord and Savior on January 3, 2026.

Hunter was born on December 15, 1999, in Caldwell County to Daniel Hicks and Samantha Newcomb Reece. Hunter was a man of deep faith who devoted his life to Christ at the Church of Jesus Christ in Newland, where he was proudly baptized. He found joy and purpose in working on his cars, a passion that reflected his patience and skill. Above all, Hunter loved his family dearly, holding them close to his heart. To those who knew him best, he was a fiercely protective man, steady, dependable, and always there to make others feel safe and cared for.

Hunter is preceded in death by his 3 Grandparents, Kenneth Hicks, Betty Hicks, and Sherry Sluss.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Samantha Newcomb Reece and husband James Reece, and his father, Daniel Hicks and wife Missy Hicks; 10 siblings: Austin Hicks and wife Britney, Landon Gross and wife Brittany, Logan Gross, Dalton Gross, Jerrica Reece, Brianna Hice and husband Cody, Mason Hicks, Ayden Morehouse, Taylor Reece and Mackenzie Reece. 3 Grandparents: Betty Russell and husband Tom, Ray Newcomb, and Phil Reece. Also surviving in the family are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his family, Hunter leaves behind many dear friends who will miss him greatly.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Mackie Funeral Service
