Hubert Lee Waters

Hubert Lee Waters, 88, of Granite Falls, went to his heavenly home to reside with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday April 10, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Hubert was born on June 19, 1937 in Rutherford County to the late Willie Lee Waters and Mary Parker Waters. He dedicated many years of his life to Century Furniture Company, where he was a valued employee and a friend to many. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and was an active and beloved member of Friendship Baptist Church in Hudson. Hubert was a passionate NASCAR fan, always eager to cheer on his favorite drivers.

Above all, Hubert’s life was defined by his love for family, love for the Lord, and a deep abiding love for others. He was known for his kind, giving, and selfless nature, always putting the needs of others before his own. As a husband, dad, and especially as a grandpaw, he was a source of unwavering love and affection.

Hubert shared a special bond with his siblings, finding strength and joy in their close-knit relationship. He also loved his canine companion, Roscoe, who brought him endless comfort and companionship. Hubert was adored by his nieces, who cherished his friendly spirit and the genuine interest he took in their lives. His legacy of love, kindness and selflessness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Annie Mae Biggerstaff Waters; his son, Tony Waters; his siblings, Ruth Biggerstaff, Shirley Whitt, and Ronnie Waters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Roger Waters of Granite Falls and Wanda Ward and husband Billy of Granite Falls; one granddaughter, Misty Colvard and husband Terry of Granite Falls; one grandson, William Ward and wife Brooke of Valdese; his great-grandchildren, Dawson Colvard and fiancée Hannah Simerly, Braylon Ward, Kamdyn Ward and Journee Ward; his sister Jane Guffey and husband Robert of Rutherfordton; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday April 17, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Friendship Baptist Church, 4676 Horseshoe Bend Road in Hudson.

A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Friendship Baptist Church, with Pastor Lonnie Payne, Pastor Jamie Simerly, and Pastor John Bernhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir where he will be laid to rest beside his wife Annie Mae.
