Henry Clayton Clark, Bug, 96, of Lenoir, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026, at Frye Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health.
He was born on April 17th, 1930, in Caldwell County to the late Thomas Eber Clark and Alma Estelle Pitts Clark. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Dovie Kathleen Rich Clark; his second wife, Edna Blackburn Clark; two sisters; five brothers; and three stepsons, Robert Barker, Harley Barker and Joseph Barker, Jr. Henry was a faithful member of Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church where he loved to sing and worship with his church family. He was also an avid gardener for many years and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked for Bernhardt Furniture for 38 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Daniel Clark and his adopted daughter, Tammy Swink. Four stepdaughters, Martha Earp, Clariss Childers (Allen), Audrey Eckard (Larry Jo) and Joann Clark (Larry). Two stepsons, Charles Barker (Susie), Jerry Barker (Judy) and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Also, Anna Clark, a close family friend and caregiver and Landon his favorite fix-it man.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13th, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3 PM at Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held at 3 PM directly following visitation with Pastor Wallace Smith, Pastor Derrick Lingerfelt and Rev. Stuart White officiating. Interment will follow at Faith Baptist Church off Bradford Mountain Road in Lenoir, military honors will be rendered by the North Carolina National Guard and Caldwell County Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Chris Clark, Elijah Dotson, Isaiah Lowman, Jeremiah Swink, Travis Barker, Steven Barker, Gary Barker and Wayne Eckard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his church, Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church at 3580 Playmore Beach Road, Lenoir, NC 28645 or Carolina Caring Hospice of Newton.
