Harriet Fields Lewis

August 14, 1955 — August 29, 2025

Harriet Fields Lewis, 70, of Granite Falls, NC, departed to her heavenly home on Friday, August 29, 2025, surrounded by her family, prayer and music.

Mrs. Lewis was born on August 14, 1955, in Waco, TX, to John and Reba Jewell Fields. She was known by many names, including Harriet, Mom, Momma Lewis, Sis, Nana, Aunt Harriet and, occasionally, Harry-hat.

Harriet grew up in various places around the world, eventually graduating from Johnson County High School in Mountain City, TN in 1973. During her life, she had many different careers, including Centel employee, small business owner, and Certified Nursing Assistant. She was happiest at work when she was helping others in need.

Harriet enjoyed driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, listening to music, participating in new experiences, cooking and, most of all, spending time with her family. She loved white Christmases, Autumn, the mountains and all things pumpkin spice flavored. She continued to develop her faith throughout her life and attended Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church with her mother every Sunday. She will be remembered for her patience, kindness, selflessness and the unconditional love she showed her family and friends.

Those preceding Harriet in death include her father, John Fields, and her husband, David Lewis, to whom she was married for 38 years.

Those remaining to cherish Harriet’s memory include her mother, Reba Jewell Fields of Granite Falls; her brother John Fields and spouse, Georgiana, of Dacula, GA; her children, Amanda Lewis of Washington, DC, William Lewis and spouse, Cari, of Raleigh; her grandchildren, Mason Lewis, Lacey Lewis, and Jacob Lewis; her stepchildren Penny Lail and spouse, Mike, of Maiden, Lori Oliver of Conover; her nephews, Stephen Fields and Travis Fields of Georgia; and her beloved dog, Dove.

A Graveside service will be at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, with Rev. Paul Deal officiating.

The family will receive friends following the graveside at JE Broyhill Park in Lenoir, Shelter #3, from 2-4 pm, with light refreshments. Please wear comfortable shoes if attending.
