Harold Dean Kirby

Harold “Dean” Kirby, 84, of Granite Falls, departed this world to his heavenly home on Thursday November 13, 2025 at his residence following a brief illness.

Harold was born on March 21, 1941 in Caldwell County, the son of James Victor Kirby and Margaret Lowman Kirby. Harold was a proud graduate of Granite Falls High School, and embarked on a path of service and dedication. He bravely served his country in the United States Army, demonstrating his commitment to duty and honor. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of his life to Duke Power as a hydro operator, contributing his skills and expertise to the company. Harold was a former member of Lovelady Baptist Church in Granite Falls, and he found joy and fulfillment in his passion for cattle and farming.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Brenda Stafford Kirby of the home; his daughter, Marti Kirby Martin and husband Chris of Granite Falls; two grandchildren, Garner Ford Lingerfelt and Walter Dean “Walt” Lingerfelt; three step-grandchildren, Peyton Jaynes, Hayden Jaynes and Jaedyn Martin; two brothers, Roger Kirby and wife Diane of Granite Falls and Kenneth Kirby of Hildebran; one sister, Loretta Hefner of Conover

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Kirby and his sister, Shirley McGinnis.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday November 16, 2025 at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church, with Rev. Wayne White and Rev. Kyle Lloyd officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-3:00 P.M. at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church.
