Clyde Douglas Bentley

Clyde Douglas Bentley, 78, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday March 5, 2026 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson following a brief illness.

Clyde was born on May 13, 1947 in Caldwell County, to the late Lonnie P. Bentley and Belva Hamby Bentley. Clyde dedicated many years to Broyhill Furniture, where his skills in maintenance ensured the smooth operation of the facility. A proud veteran, he served his country honorably in the United States Army. Clyde was also a devoted member of Northside Baptist Church, where he found community and spiritual fulfillment in serving the Lord.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Bentley; his brothers, Edward Bentley, Ronald Bentley and Joe H. Bentley; and his sister, Jean Porter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 29 years, Retha Marie Norwood Bentley of the home; his son, Jesse Coffey and wife Ameia of Lenoir; his step-daughter, Connie Bolick of Lenoir; a granddaughter, McKenzie A. Wilson of Lenoir; his brother, David Bentley of Lenoir; and his sister, Wilma Winkler of Spartanburg, SC.

The family will receive friends on Saturday March 7, 2026 from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at Mackie Funeral Service & Cremations of Granite Falls.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls, with Pastor Lance Main officiating.

A private interment will be held by the family at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
