Carroll Dean Martin

Carroll Dean “Sonny” Martin, 74, of Lenoir, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday September 9, 2026, at his residence.

Sonny was born on November 21, 1951, in Caldwell County to Marie Hall Martin and the late Herman Miller Martin. He was a dedicated employee of Broyhill Furniture for many years, where he worked as a repairman. He found his greatest peace in the outdoors, spending as much time as possible immersed in the beauty of nature.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Marsha Walker; and his brother, Herman “Buddy” Martin.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Marie Hall Martin of Lenoir; his sisters, Elizabeth Millson (Bill) of Hudson; Pamela Pennell (Richard) of Hudson; Jeanneen Spears of Lenoir and Lori Moody (Tony) of Hudson; his brother, Robert Martin of Lenoir; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and his close friend, Jeff Parsons of Lenoir.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
