Carl Moir Smith

Mr. Carl Moir Smith, age 84, of Pfafftown, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday August 16, 2026, at Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center in Granite Falls.

Moir was born on April 9, 1942, in Stokes County to the late Elwood Smith and Eva Hunt Smith. Moir lived a full and adventurous life, creating memories and touching the lives of everyone who knew and loved him. He proudly served in the United States Navy, an experience that became an important part of his life. Moir had a deep love for travel and seeing the world. He believed in making the most of every opportunity and spent his life exploring new places and embracing adventure. One of his greatest adventures was riding his motorcycle all the way to Alaska, a journey that perfectly reflected his adventurous spirit. For 20 years, Moir worked as a truck driver, a career that allowed him to see even more of the country along the way. He worked hard, traveled far, and lived life to the fullest. Above all, Moir was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of travel, his years of service, and the many memories he created throughout his life. Moir truly spent his life well, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his mother and father Moir is proceeded in death by his siblings; Callie Watson and Wayne Smith.

Those left to cherish the memory of Moir Include, his daughter Amanda Smith of Granite Falls; Former Wife Paula Smith Lynn of Hickory; Siblings James Smith of Greensboro and Audrey Smith Kirby of Winston-Salem; close friend; Alice Owens of Pilot Mountain. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life to honor Moir’s life will be held at a later date.
