Brenda Shoemake Johnson

Brenda Shoemake Johnson, 65, of Lenoir, departed this life to her heavenly home on Monday, September 29, 2025, at her residence.

Brenda was born on September 16, 1960, in Honolulu, HI, to the late Stewart Shoemake, Jr., and Lou Ellen Hollars Shoemake. She worked as a CNA for many years and also in the restaurant industry. Brenda’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love for her family, friends, and her loyal canine companion, Cooper. Her green thumb brought beauty to the world through her love for flowers. Above all, Brenda’s heart was devoted to the Lord. As a cherished member of Walking by Faith Baptist Church, she found joy and purpose in serving her Lord and Savior.

Survivors include her husband, Samuel Butler Johnson; one daughter, Kimberly Hefner and husband Caleb of Taylorsville; her grandson, Cody Horrocks; her brother, David Shoemake and wife Amber of Lenoir; her nieces, Kendall and Leann; and a special cousin, Rita Seagle of Lenoir.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Shoemake.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls, with Rev. Marvin Ford officiating. Interment will follow at the Herman Family Cemetery in Blowing Rock.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.
