Alene Atwood Dale

Alene Atwood Dale, 88, of Hickory, passed away Thursday July 10, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Alene was born on July 12, 1936, in Catawba County, to the late Fred Atwood and Susie Stillwell Atwood. She was former owner and operator of Dale’s Accounting in Granite Falls, and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, where she taught the Women’s Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby A. Dale; her son, Bobby Jerome Dale; her grandson, Jeffrey Bryan Dale; and her brother, Marshall Fred “Buck” Atwood.

Survivors include her son, William “Bill” Dale and wife Ruth of Connelly Springs; her daughter, Susan Dale Moore and husband Trev of Hickory; her brother, Terry Atwood of Hickory; her grandchildren, Jesse Dale, Erin Teague, and Kevin Moore; her great-grandchildren, Alayna Keller and husband Christian, Caleb Teague, Liam Dale, Makayla Moore and Kailey Gross. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday July 13, 2025, at Friendship United Methodist Church, with Revs. Deval Mason and Josh Baker officiating.

The family will have a receiving of friends and reception immediately following the service at the Friendship United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

A Private Graveside Service will be held by the immediate family in the Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery prior to the service.
