Willa Dean Cook Dula, age 85, of Granite Falls went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Caldwell Hospice in Hudson. She was born April 16, 1934, in Caldwell County, daughter of the late Robert Cook and Hettie Edwards Cook.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dula was preceded in death by her husband, Durine Dula a daughter: Vicki Dula Overcash and three sisters; Annie Huffman, Mildred Huffman, and Thelma Cook. Three brothers; Ralph Norman, Coleman Norman, and Harlan Norman. And a daughter-in-law: Pamela Starnes Dula.
Mrs. Dula was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, and spoiling her family. She was a member of New Vision Baptist Fellowship Church in Granite Falls, N.C.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Jeffery Dula and Kerwin Dula both of Granite Falls. Three daughters; Lisa Dula Winkler and husband Tony of Hickory, N.C. Sandra Hefner of Lenoir, N.C. and Tracy Dula Phillips and husband Kirby of Fallston, N.C. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren; Melissa Overcash Crawford and husband Kevin, Brandy Overcash Eby and husband Kevin, Adam Overcash, Catlin Overcash Bowman and husband Tyler, Emily Winkler, Lauren Winkler Icenhour and husband Daniel, Kristy Hefner, Mark Hefner, Megan Dula, Ethan Winkler and wife Courtney Causby, Taylor Winkler Messick and husband Brock. and seven great-grandchildren; Kayla Eby, Davis Lentz, Hudson Lentz, Rosie Hicks, Parker Hicks, Ryder Bowman and Madyson Bowman. And a great grand daughter on the way; Hadley Rae Messick
The family will receive friends Friday, December 27, 2019 from 1:00-2:00 PM at New Vision Baptist Fellowship Church off the Grace Chapel Road in Granite Falls, N.C. with the Service to follow at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Ashely Crouse. Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
